Why go contemporary when you can go vintage with your wedding dress?

Every bride wants to look her best and unique on her very special wedding day. There is probably no better way to become unique than going out from the norms. Why go contemporary when you can go vintage? Classics have always been so beautiful because it harkens you back to an earlier era – an era which is far from the other brides like you are in right now.

You will perhaps be the most unique bride in town! However, going vintage with your wedding dress still poses some pitfalls and you should watch out for these when you are shopping for one! Here they are:

1. Avoid wedding dresses with stains or those that need repairs.

Since they are vintage, there must be some stains, holes and runs on them. So be very careful and check carefully the wedding dress that you are eyeing to wear on your wedding day.

2. Don’t trust the oldest dresses.

Fabrics do run so again, check the vintage wedding dress really carefully.

Wedding Etiquette Donts

The rules of wedding etiquette continually changes and evolves. Rules observed a decade ago may no longer be relevant today. Below are a few updated wedding Etiquette Donts that a Bride, Groom and Guest have to follow.

* When sending out wedding invitations. It is considered good etiquette to try and find out who your guests would most likely bring to the ceremony. Avoid writing down ’and guest’ on your invites. Taking this extra step would help your guests feel more welcome to your nuptials.

* Do not put your wedding registry details on the invites themselves, nor should you request for cash-only gifts. Those details should be circulated by yourself or your friends and family.

* If it is your second marriage, it is bad etiquette let your parents pay for your wedding. The bride of a second marriage is also not advised to wear a veil to carry orange blossoms in her bouquet. However, it is still acceptable to wear white.

CUT IT, CROP IT, CHOP IT OFF – One of the easiest things you can do to a bridesmaid’s dress is to cut the length of it. Turn a satin gown into a cocktail dress.

If you don’t use cocktail dresses that often, you can chop off the lower part of that dress and turn it into a skirt for the office.
