Every bride wants to look her best and unique on her very special wedding day. There is probably no better way to become unique than going out from the norms. Why go contemporary when you can go vintage? Classics have always been so beautiful because it harkens you back to an earlier era – an era which is far from the other brides like you are in right now.
You will perhaps be the most unique bride in town! However, going vintage with your wedding dress still poses some pitfalls and you should watch out for these when you are shopping for one! Here they are:
1. Avoid wedding dresses with stains or those that need repairs.
Since they are vintage, there must be some stains, holes and runs on them. So be very careful and check carefully the wedding dress that you are eyeing to wear on your wedding day.
2. Don’t trust the oldest dresses.
Fabrics do run so again, check the vintage wedding dress really carefully.

Bridesmaid dresses are just one of those items that you always vow to wear again, but never actually do. Most of these dresses end up stuffed in a closet somewhere gathering dust. Of note are those dresses that were a product of theme weddings.
But for those items which are borderline presentable, here are a few things you can do to make them ‘everyday chic’.
With the right kind of modification, you can even wear an old bridesmaid dress to the office.
CUT IT, CROP IT, CHOP IT OFF – One of the easiest things you can do to a bridesmaid’s dress is to cut the length of it. Turn a satin gown into a cocktail dress.
If you don’t use cocktail dresses that often, you can chop off the lower part of that dress and turn it into a skirt for the office.

You finally got your wedding gown as well as the headpiece or headdress to go with it. Now, you are just starting to look for the small pieces that would really make your look glamorous – the wedding accessories. As you know, the wedding accessories are those little accessories that make a big effect and impact on your outfit on your very special day. These are your gloves, shoes, undergarments and jewelry.
A smart bride-to-be will not underestimate the importance and the essence of the little details and will in fact give each detail a careful consideration.
How are you going to do it?
Here are the steps:
1. Match the jewelry to the style of your gown and headpiece or headdress. If your dress is a conservative style, it would be nice to go for conservative style of pearl, diamond or just a simple yet beautiful gold chain.
2. Try your accessories with your gown ahead of time.
This will give you the idea about what to change, what to remove or what to add.
3. Choose the wedding shoes after you have chosen and tried your wedding gown.
