It is not everyday that one gets an invitation to attend royal weddings. For those who attended the highly publicized union of Prince William and Kate Middleton, it was important to be at least aware of what to do or wear before attending. After all, that royal wedding of Prince William to commoner Kate Middleton was considered the wedding of the century.
For those who still do not know, Prince William and his new wife are now called the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The invitation to an official royal function or royal wedding usually states what guests should wear. Wearing of military uniform can be done as long as the commanding officer has already granted permission to do. If theres none, then the best option is to wear morning coat or lounge suit.
For men, wearing a black or gray morning coat, yellow or gray waistcoat and striped gray trousers are acceptable. Top hats should be removed when photographs are being taken.
As for the shoes, it should be black and properly laced-up. For ladies, a smart day dress composed of a suit or dress with a jacket is acceptable. They should wear high heels as well.
The female attendees can bring along hat and gloves with matching handbag. In Europe, the hats that people wear are usually called “fascinators.”
